Who Turns Up
When you call (253) 210-4852, you get someone who can tell you what a broken torsion spring job costs before a truck ever leaves the yard. We don't run a call center that reads from a script and transfers you three times. The person on the phone knows the difference between a bent track and a cable off a drum, and they'll ask enough questions to get the right parts loaded before anyone drives out.
Most of the doors we see in this area went up between 1962 and 2003, with the bulk of the stock dating to the 1980s and 90s. That means a lot of original openers nearing the end of their service life, and springs that were never rated for the cycle count they've since put in. Tell us the age of the house and the door usually tells us most of what we need to know before we arrive.
We're not going to pretend to be the biggest outfit in the area or promise you a specific arrival window down to the minute. What we can tell you is that someone answers, someone who works on doors for a living, not a dispatcher reading a board.
What We Actually Do
Springs, cables, rollers, tracks, openers, and panel sections - that's the bulk of the work. Torsion springs fail often enough on the pre-1990s housing stock around here that it's close to half our calls some weeks. Openers from that same era are starting to go too, and parts for a few of the older chain-drive units aren't always sitting on a shelf, so sometimes a repair isn't worth chasing and a full opener swap makes more sense than patching something held together with a replacement board nobody stocks anymore.
We work on residential doors - single and double, wood, steel, insulated and not. We don't do commercial rolling steel doors or gate operators, and we won't quote one over the phone and pretend otherwise.
The climate here is mild with occasional freeze, so we don't see the kind of frozen-track calls you'd get further inland, but cold mornings can still stiffen up old hardware enough that a door that worked fine in October won't lift in January. If that's your call, say so - it changes what we bring.
Getting Hold of Us
Phone is the fastest way: (253) 210-4852. If you're already in the shop's neighborhood, the address is 1401 St. Paul Ave, Tacoma, WA 98421.
When you call, have the door's rough age and what it's doing - or not doing - ready. "Door won't open, makes a loud bang first" tells us more than "it's broken," and it usually means a snapped spring, which we can often price over the phone once we know the door type and size.
We don't currently list a contact form or online booking on this page - the phone line is the way in. If you reach voicemail, leave the address and a callback number; someone will get back to you.
Where We Work
We're based at 1401 St. Paul Ave in Tacoma and work jobs across the surrounding area, including Hilltop, New Tacoma, Central Tacoma, North End, South Tacoma, Eastside, and South End, as well as out to Fircrest, University Place, Fife, Waller, and Midland. We also take calls further out toward Milton, Lakewood, Summit, Parkland, Edgewood, Lakeland South, and Steilacoom.
With 126,830 owner-occupied houses across a service area of roughly 264,907 households, the housing stock varies a lot block to block even within a few miles - a 1987-built house in one of the 42 named areas we cover can have completely different door hardware than its neighbor from the same decade, depending on who built it. That's part of why we ask questions on the phone instead of quoting blind.
We don't cover every direction equally - if you're well outside the distances listed here, call first and ask rather than assume.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come out the same day?
We don't post a guaranteed response window on this page, so call (253) 210-4852 and ask what's open today. Spring and opener failures usually get priority since they leave a door stuck shut or open.
What if my opener is original to the house?
If your house dates to the 1980s or 90s, which covers a lot of the area, your opener may be original. Parts for some older chain-drive models aren't easy to source anymore, so replacement often ends up cheaper than chasing a repair.
Do you work outside Tacoma proper?
Yes, we take calls in Fircrest, University Place, Fife, Lakewood, Parkland, and the other areas listed on this page, generally within about 15 miles of the shop. If you're further out, call and ask before assuming we cover it.
Can I just email or use a form?
Right now the phone line is the way to reach us: (253) 210-4852. We don't have a booking form listed here, so a call or a visit to 1401 St. Paul Ave is the fastest route to getting on the schedule.
